Lobbying & Media

Making our voices heard, and achieving real change

Parliamentary Lobbying & Media, Marketing & PR SubGroups

The Parliamentary Lobbying Subgroup and Media, Marketing, and PR subgroups comprise members from across the Cannabis and Hemp CBD sector in the UK.

The Groups exists to support the aims of the Council and drive forward the work of the Research, Hemp, Standards and Medical Cannabis subgroups.

In 2022, the Parliamentary Lobbying Subgroup will implement 10 Recommendations to Government, a joint project from Maple Tree Consultants and Mackrells Solicitors, adopted by the Council. The recommendations encompass points around high THC cultivations and licensing, GP prescribing, NICE guidelines, the Proceeds of Crime Act,

health economic analysis, stock market flotation of cannabis companies, cultivation of hemp flowers, THC limit for hemp increases, a review of the Medicines Act 2012 to benefit CBD and to ensure the Novel Foods recommendations do not negatively impact smaller CBD producers.

The Media, Marketing and PR Subgroup will engage with the media on outputs from the Council and its members, establish a wealth of information on this site about cannabis and Hemp in the UK and provide members of the public, patients and stakeholders a directory of quality organisations operating to very high standards within the sector.

The Lobbying group is working towards establishing an Office of Medical Cannabis at the heart of Government.

Working closely with the Standards and Research groups, lobbying activity will educate and inform Government officials

The Groups will drive outputs from subgroups, including research to demonstrate the benefits to patients to increase access to this treatment, patient case studies, research and developments within the industry.

Working closely with the Hemp Subgroup, lobbying will support activities to challenge the restrictions around hemp as a controlled drug.
